Welcome to Class 1D

Hello and welcome to all of our children and families in 1D! My name is Mrs Denney and I am very excited to be your Year 1 teacher this year. In our class we also have Miss Retallick, our teaching assistant who will be supporting the children in their learning journey throughout Year 1. We have a fabulous year of learning ahead of us and I cannot wait to meet you all to start our Year 1 adventure together!

💻 Safer Internet Day 💻

In Year 1 for safer internet day we have been thinking all about how we can keep safe when using our screens at home. We talked about what we use our screens for, how long we spend on them and if we have any rules for our screens at home. We thought carefully about what types of rules would help to keep our information, emotions, mental and physical health safe whilst online and using screens. We came up with lots of super ideas such as; put on a 30 minute timer, don't share your personal information, listen to the grown up, no screens at bed time, don't use screens at tea time so you can talk to your family. We then created our own super 'Screen Time Rules' posters!

📚 Reading Inspiration! 📚

If you are looking for stories to share with your children we have compiled a list of wonderful books that you can cosy up together with!

🌟 Only One You 🌟
 

During our transition afternoon in the summer term we read the book Only One You and thought about all of the things that make us special and unique! We then had a go at creating our own fish from the story and discovered that nobody had created the exact same design. Our fish are now hanging proudly in our classroom to remind us all to celebrate our differences and individuality!

Our new classroom has lots of exciting areas for the children to explore and apply their learning in a range of contexts. We cannot wait to see the children tomorrow on their first day of their Year 1 adventure!

Our First Day

We have had a fantastic first day in Year 1 exploring our new classroom and getting to know each other. It has been lovely to see so many happy, smiley faces today!
