AUTUMN 1

We used chalk and paint to create an artistic image of the moon! Don’t they look fabulous!

We were set a challenge to build the tallest tower out of scrap paper tubes and sellotape. We had two tries and with the second one we had to allocate jobs to each team member. We found that we were more successful when we all contributed.

We’ve been investigating what happens to our shadow throughout the day and explaining why these changes happen.

We’ve been writing our own sentences using dashes as a parenthesis to add extra information.

We’ve made it to 1 million!

To help us understand how the different moon phases occur, we made models.

We enjoyed making the phases of the moon using Oreos!

We have been working with 6 digit numbers!

We thought about a time when we had to face our fears.

What a great start to Year 5 everyone has made this week. We have enjoyed reading 'The Fall' and discussing ways that we can overcome our fears.

In small groups, the children enjoyed the challenge of making something that would cushion Humpty's fall! We had fun testing them out to see if the design worked and the egg didn't crack! 5 teams were successful in keeping the egg intact! Others were not so lucky!
