Autumn 1

Today, we have continued practising our sketching skills and started to apply these skills to imitate the art of Robert Longo.

There was a bit of a buzz as the children entered the classroom this morning because mould had started growing on our pieces of bread!

Samba

Continuing our theme of South American dance, the children have been looking at Samba. They looked at some of the basic moves then came up with their own interpretations. The children have been adding movement, turn, stillness, travel and jumps into their motifs.

After learning about microorganisms, the children enjoyed planning and carrying out an investigation. We are looking forward to observing our samples before writing our conclusions next week.

The children’s writing is ready to be displayed in our classroom. I hope you enjoy reading it as much as we enjoyed writing our narratives 😃

Biomes in a bottle.

Never underestimate the fun a quick game of negative number tug of war brings to the classroom 😃

We have been learning about latitude and longitude in Geography and we have put our skills to the test by identifying the grid references for lots of capital cities!

Capoeira

In dance, we have been practising the Brazilian dance of Capoeira. This is a mixture of dance and martial art moves.

Today, we practised our rounding skills with an orienteering session. We had a great time and rounded the numbers brilliantly.

Our geography work

Take a peek through the keyholes and let your imagination run wild 🔑

We have started publishing our ‘Through the Keyhole’ writing today. The children have worked extremely hard with their first piece of Year 6 written work, displayed wonderful editing skills to improve their work and the finished piece is going to look amazing on display. We can’t wait to share them with you very soon.

Our animal art collages are in preparation... The children couldn’t believe it when they were asked to tear their work up but the end results are looking amazing

Hard at work writing their ‘through the keyhole’ descriptions.

What a great first day back! We received mysterious golden envelopes, which contained a magical key to take us wherever our imagination wanted, ready to carry out some amazing writing tomorrow. We also started a piece of artwork which we can’t wait to share with you when it is finished.
