Attacking and Defending

The children had to take turns, in pairs, to try to throw a beanbag into a hoop defended by two other children. The children had to think about the space to get into in order to give them the best chance of scoring.

Ball Skills

In P.E., we have been practising our ball skills. We began our session with a game of tig where we had to tig our partner.

Gymnastics

We have been learning how to do P.E in the hall for the first time! Our first unit is gymnastics and we have had lots of fun learning how to move our bodies in different ways.

Kandinsky's Circles

This week we have been continuing to explore colour mixing and have enjoyed learning all about the great artist Kandinsky. We have learnt how to use the watercolours to create our own version of 'Squares with Concentric Circles'. 

Our Autumn Walk

This week we are learning all about Autumn! Today we went on an autumn walk around the school grounds to look for signs of autumn. We used our super senses to be autumn detectives and worked in pairs to spot golden leaves, spiky conkers and juicy berries!

Blackberry and Apple Crumble!

Today we have been busy bakers making blackberry and apple crumble! Throughout our Autumn week we have learnt all about seasonal produce and today we used blackberries and apples to make a delicious crumble. We learnt how to use peelers and knives safely, the importance of good hygiene and the steps involved in making our crumble. This afternoon we got to try it and we thought it was very yummy!

We are Designers!

After reading 'Room on the Broom' we decided to design our own super chairs to go on a real broomstick! We looked at lots of chairs from throughout history to get some inspiration. Afterwards we came up with our own design criteria which we would need to follow. We carefully planned our chairs and wrote a list of materials that we would need. We have learnt how to join, cover and strengthen the materials to make our our fabulous chairs! We are pleased that they meet our success criteria and can't wait to test them next week!
