Rather a wet Santa dash this morning but we did it! We enjoyed warming up with the 12 moves of Xmas 🎄 Please return any sponsor money by the end of term.

Advent-we had a lovely visit from Diana from NISCU this morning. She told us all about Advent.⭐️

Judo

The children have started a 6 week block of Judo lessons with an external provider who is coming into school on a Friday afternoon. They loved their first session this week where they learnt some special Japanese words, how to safely restrain your partner and how to correctly wear a judo kit. They enjoyed the challenge of trying to escape their partners hold and are so excited for their session next week!

Addition Family Houses

This week in Maths, we have been looking at addition families. The children choose number cards and had to use the numbers to create addition family houses by creating four addition calculations. They worked really hard. Well done, Year 1!

This week, the children have been working really hard on developing their sketching skills, learning to draw people with more detail. We are so proud of their amazing portraits of Guy Fawkes after looking at historical paintings. What do you think?

London Landmarks

Within our topic, we have looking at famous London landmarks. The children have worked together and built different landmarks using construction kits to put together to create their own map of London. They have constructed Buckingham Palace, the Tower of London, the London Eye, London Bridge and the inside of the Houses of Parliament.

The Timeline of Guy Fawkes

Whilst learning all about The Gunpowder Plot, the children have been working hard together to order a timeline of life events for Guy Fawkes. Super!

Pudsey Day for Children in Need 2021

We had lots of fun celebrating Children In Need! We shared Pudsey stories, did a Pudsey Quiz Workout with Joe Wicks and shared our lovely outfits together. You looked amazing Year 1. Well done!

Judo Mini Competition Fun

Today’s Judo was a mix a mini games and competitions focussing on skills such as, holds, speed and fair play. The children learned how to respect their competitor regardless of the game outcome, congratulate them and encourage their team mates. Lots of fun and laughter was had this afternoon!

Year 1 are Music Composers

Year 1 have been working on their musical composition this week ~ learning all about the different instruments and sounds they make. The children assigned musical instruments to different pictorial representations of bonfire night. They then placed the pictures onto a composition grid to create a musical piece to represent bonfire night. Great work, Year 1!

Understanding our Big Emotions

Today, we talked about our big emotions and thought about the times when we have felt these emotions. The children made their own breathing wands and came up with ways to help with calming their emotions using these. Great job!
