Earthquake Day
On Friday, the children spent the day researching and finding out more about earthquakes. They took part in a variety of activities including measuring movement with a seismometer, recreating the layers of the earth, using atlases to find out about earthquake zones, hotspots and tectonic plates and finally constructing earthquake proof structures from pasta and marshmallows.
They loved testing these in our classroom earthquake zone - amazingly, they all survived a staggering magnitude 8.9 on the movement scale! Future building engineers in the making here in 4T!
