Phonics Using the eBook library or your child’s phonics books from school encourage your child to read their book to you by sounding and blending each word.
Literacy We’re celebrating books and authors! Listen to our new story below ‘What the Ladybird Heard’ by the amazing author Julia Donaldson. Make some story cards to show what happened in the story and put them in order. Now can you retell the story to someone in your house?
What the Ladybird Heard and Story Cards
Maths Get your number cards 11-20 from your pack and cut them up. Play the number recognition games below. Numbers 14 and 16-19 are the easiest to recognise as their name makes sense e.g. fourteen has a four, sixteen has a six etc. The other numbers you may need to focus on more.
Hold the cards up for your child out of order. Your child has to say the numbers.
Time how quickly your child can say each number. Try and beat the time.
Ask your child to order the numbers making a giant numberline.
Stick the numbers they struggle with on doors that they pass through regularly.
Make a hopscotch to jump down to the numbers that you say.
Spread the numbers out and ask your child to run to certain numbers.
Wider Curriculum Grab the pick and mix activity sheet from your pack and choose something fun to do together.
