I love hearing about the wonderful things your children are doing at home. From drama and dance classes; to neighbouring horses and police cars; to making happiness jars, the children love sharing stories with their friends. It is, however, unfortunate that they cannot bring anything into school to show this, so why not share them here virtually?!
Please email any photographs to me at: year2@torrisholme.lancs.sch.uk The children will also have the opportunity to talk about these in class, usually on a Friday afternoon.
Let's make this the perfect place to share those special moments.
Much love,
Mrs Patel
👨🏽🍳👩🏼🍳 The Great Fire of London Bake Off!🔥🔥
I have been innundated with entries for our bake off and I must say each and every one of you did not disappoint! I have been blown away by the creativity, skill, effort, attention to detail and links to all of our topic learning!! I hope you all enjoy looking at these wonderful creations as much as I have. It's just a shame I can't taste them but then again, in Mason's words, more for you lovely people at home!! 😜
Look at the detail in this mindblowing creation! The houses are made out of gingerbread and deliberately singed to make them look like they are burning. The orange matchstick makers certainly add to the effect of the Tudor houses. My favourite part is the little gingerbread 'baker' man, Thomas Farriner; trying to put out the fire with a leather bucket filled with water. I believe you came up with the ideas all by yourself! 🤩
👨🏽🍳👩🏼🍳 More cake...
I must say I'm feeling rather peckish when receiving these fabulous photographs showcasing your baking skills! Here's another superb entry, this time from Henley! Great work, Henley - I'm particularly impressed with the attention to detail of the thatched roof and showing the bakery in Pudding Lane where the fire started.
Did somebody say cake? Another entry for the Great Fire of London Bake Off! 👨🏽🍳👩🏼🍳🔥
We have another entry for our Bake Off!! Just look at our latest talented young baker, Ivy. She has created a fantastic mouth-watering cake based on The Great Fire. Well done, Ivy!!I am super proud of your efforts!!
👩🏼🍳 The Great Fire of London Bake Off 👨🏽🍳
And the first entry is in for the Great Fire of London Bake Off!! Just look at our talented young baker, Mason. What a magnificent creation, depicting the events of the fire and I love the use of candles to add to the effect. Well done, Mason - you must be proud of the end result and I believe it tastes pretty awesome too! It's a good job we're judging solely on photographs as I may well have just eaten the whole lot!!
Children in Need - Children Giving...
This little superstar decided she wanted to raise money for Children in Need and she has made us all so proud! She made a plan, put her artistic skills to the test, set up a window display and got in touch with family and friends to take away a picture in exchange for a donation. Zara has devoted much of her time to doing this and I know she's been so excited to see that she has raised in excess of £30 so far!! I must say I do have the best picture taking pride of place on my Little Artists Gallery Wall to remind me just how amazing my stars in 2P are!!
Well done, Zara!
Remembrance Sunday
For Remembrance Sunday, this little superstar took part in the 2-minute doorstep silence and learned about World War I and II. She also designed a poppy field using her thumb prints and participated in the online BBC remembrance by sending in a picture of herself holding a name of someone she wanted to remember. This picture will be collated alongside others and placed into a collage to create a huge poppy which will be placed on display at a gallery in Leicester - WOW!!
