We looked at materials silly scenarios like a window made of wood, a chocolate teapot or a play dough fork. We had lots of fun reading each one. We then decided to design our very own silly scenario…

We are engineers!

We have been learning about the life of Isambard Kingdom Brunel.

We are Geographers! 🗺

We have been thinking about human and physical geography and where amazing bridges are locates in the UK.

Engineering Day

We loved being engineers for the day, designing and building our very own suspension bridges.

First we researched different types of bridges. Then we labelled a bridge, made human bridges and created our very own bridge designs. Before embarking on our engineering adventure to build, test and evaluate our bridges.

Rapunzel Engineering Fairy Tales

We had an amazing morning with real engineers from BAE Systems on a Zoom lesson. We thought about what an Engineer looks like and the qualities of an Engineer. We then had a challenge to build a tall tower with 4 pieces of paper and some masking tape. After listening to the story of Rapunzel, we designed and built a ’contraption’ to help her escape from the tower, we came up with brilliant designs. What a wonderful end to our We are Engineers topic and thank you to the parents of our year 2 children who organised such a super morning for us.

We have loved learning all about the amazing artist LS Lowry and his masterpieces.

We enjoyed imagining we were inside his masterpieces 'Industrial Landscape' and the 'Lancashire Fair' and discussing things we can see, hear, our thoughts and feelings about the paintings and things we like and don't like.
