Spring Term

Sculpting with Wire

The children practised the techniques of bending and twisting wire before creating these imaginative and rather clever insects! All the children have managed to create breathtakingly beautiful sculptures over the last couple of weeks so please enjoy our virtual gallery of sheer talent and creativity.

Look at How Our Clay Owls Turned Out 🦉🤩

The children very carefully painted their owls using pearlescent paint and truly brought them to life. Be prepared to be blown away with their finished designs. I’m sure you’ll agree that they are quite simply little shimmers of perfection. I am so proud of all the children for their spectacular creative talents!

A very happy ‘lockdown’ birthday to this little fairy! 🥳🎉🎂

Look who visited us today!!

The children were super excited to meet Pilgrim, the beautiful barn owl, this morning. The children were able to share what they already know about owls and learned so much more. Although Pilgrim was a little grumpy from being woken up during the day, she managed to spread her wings and show off her long legs. We were all ‘hooked’ by her visit and a huge thank you to Grace’s mum for giving the children this fabulous opportunity! We hope you enjoy the photos which will give you a little insight of the very excited and mesmerised boys and girls. What a hoot! 🦉

Let’s Put Our Sculpting Skills to The Test!

Today the children used the techniques for manipulating and moulding clay to make their very own owls! I was extremely impressed with their creativity, perseverance and resilience in making these. We can’t wait to paint them once they dry.

How gorgeous is this young man’s new best friend?!! Meet Misty 😍

Super Sculpting Skills!

The children have learned a range of new skills today by manipulating clay in different forms. They had a ball of clay that they divided into 5 equal parts. They practised the skill of squeezing, rolling, flattening, pulling and pinching into a cup shape. We also used different tools to carve and cut. They can’t wait to use these skills tomorrow to make their owls!

A very happy 7th birthday to this super chap 🥳🎂

Let’s Sculpt!

The children have made a great start to becoming sculptors. We started by finding out what a sculptor is and then learned that sculptures can be made from a range of materials - clay, wood, metal, ice, wire, old televisions...in fact, just about anything! All you need is your imagination and to simply get stuck in and give it a go! We looked at the work of different sculptors, including Barbara Hepworth and Henry Moore, and shared our personal responses to their sculptures. Below is a picture of one of our favourites.

A massive shout out and WELCOME BACK to our superstars in 2PM!🤩

It has been simply refreshing to have a buzz of excited children back in the classroom, back where we all belong in our happy place. It has been so heartwarming to see children catching up with their friends and running around sharing laughter and giggles whilst they chase each other on the playground! They have settled into routines quickly and are eager to find out what we’ll be doing for the next three weeks so below is our newsletter for the remainder of the term. We’ll also be having lots of discussions to raise self-esteem and build positive relationships. Here’s to a fabulous, fun-filled (possibly a little crazy!) few weeks.
