It's time to celebrate getting through this year!
Prepare to be whisked away to Brazil to be immersed in the exciting buzz of the Rio de Janeiro carnival. Experience samba sounds, Brazilian art and carnival crafts.
We'll end our year with a BANG!
After locating South America and zooming in on Brazil, we will familiarise ourselves with the human and physical features around this continent. In particular, we will venture into the Amazon Rainforest, tasting fruits along the way, and become immersed in the sights and sounds of the Rio Carnival. To enhance this, the children will have two sessions sampling samba music and learn a rainforest-themed carnival style dance. We will be creating dazzling, vibrant carnival attire, ready to recreate our own school carnival.
Zoo-mania
On Friday 2nd July, Year 3 will be visiting Dalton Zoo. To tie in with our ‘Brazil’ theme, we have a Rainforest workshop and as an added bonus, the children will get the opportunity to feed penguins. More details to follow.
Capoeira
Capoeira is a combination of martial arts and dance that is widely performed in Brazil. We loved practising some of the basic moves.
