    Team Torrisholme had a great night at last night's Morecambe Schools' Swimming Gala, taking third place overall with some superb swimming. See the swimming section of the sports pages for photos and a full write up.

    Inclusive Sports Competition

    A team of children attended the 'WheelPower Feel Inspired Primary Sports Camp' in Blackpool. We had a fantastic day meeting children from other schools and taking part in a fantastic range of sports, including fencing, golf, boccia and tennis.

    We had a go at everything and had loads of fun! There was a presentation at the end of the day where we all received medals for taking part.

    We were so proud of the children, who were absolute superstars all day!

     

  • Road Safety Competition

    School Council Road Safety Competition

    As part of our campaign to make the roads outside school safer, the school council have launched a poster competition which is open to all children in Years 1 to 6.

    Entries should be handed in to class teachers by Friday 10th March. The school councillors will then judge entries from a shortlist and one winning entry from each class will be blown up onto a banner outside school to encourage drivers to keep our children safe.

    We look forward to seeing your entries! The school council are modelling some great examples in the photos!

  • SCHOOL DISCO CANCELLED

    Unfortunately, the PTFA Fancy Dress Disco has now been cancelled due to low numbers. Sorry to everyone who has already purchased tickets. Mrs Broster will be in the school reception at 8.45am on Wednesday 1st March to issue refunds. Alternatively, refunds can be claimed from the school office by showing your ticket.

    Roman Entertainment

    The children who opted to learn more about Roman entertainment had a great day with Mrs Hunter and Mrs Baker, trying out some Roman-style board games and then building their own chariots to enter in a race. Check out the winners sporting their medals!

    Year 3's Roman Battle!

    Year 3 were visited by their Year 3 friends from Skerton St Luke's. They trained in army formations using the fantastic shields they created a home and then took part in a re-enactment of a Roman battle!

    Castles Theme Day

    Reception and Key Stage 1 have had a great day at Torrisholme Castle! Along with the children from Skerton St Luke's, the children dressed in medieval costumes and took part in a range of activities, culminating in a banquet in our transformed school hall. There was baking, building, dancing and lots of fun was had by all!

    Key Stage 2 Roman Choice Day

    Today, the children in Key Stage 2 finished off a great week learning about The Romans by choosing an area that they would like to learn about in more depth. Choices included Roman art, entertainment, housing/buildings and the army. Children worked in mixed age groups to take an lots of exciting tasks and challenges.

    They also enjoyed a picnic lunch in their classrooms, after the Key Stage 1 banquet took over the hall!

    Welcome to Torrisholme Castle

    The staff were working hard after school this afternoon on a special challenge - to transform the school hall into our very own castle ready for tomorrow's theme day and medieval banquet! We look forward to welcoming the children from Skerton St Luke's for a fantastic day!

    Year 6 Visit Vindolanda

    Year 6 had a great adventure visiting the site of the Vindolanda Roman fort with the children from Skerton St Luke's. They visited the excavated fort and settlement, where they met an archaeologist, a museum about the Roman army, which included a holographic Roman teacher and a 3D film about the settlement.
