    Parents' Evenings

We are holding our autumn term parents' evenings over the telephone this year, rather than inviting parents into school.

Appointments will be held for Years 1 - 6 in the week commencing 28th September. Letters have gone home and parents are asked to inform the teacher of a slot during which they are available to hold a five minute phone appointment.

Alternatively, you can contact the class teacher via their year group email to make an appointment.

  • Guidance for parents illness and symptoms

    Mon 21 Sep 2020

    Dear Parents and Carers

After receiving questions from several parents regarding coughs, colds etc. we thought that we should clarify our procedures and give you the best advice that we can.

During the autumn term most children experience some form of mild illness (cough, cold, sickness) which is generally harmless and short-lived. However, as we are faced with a global pandemic, it is understandable that parents will be anxious about whether their child should be in school. Here are some steps to follow:

    1. If your child is unwell, please keep them at home until they are well enough to return.
    2. If your child is displaying symptoms of COVID-19, they must not attend school, instead, arrange for a coronavirus test and all household members should begin to self-isolate. Contact the School Office and inform them of your situation.
    3. If your child has had a test for coronavirus, all household members (including siblings) should self-isolate until the result is returned. You are asked to inform the school of the result of the test(s) at the earliest opportunity. If the test is negative, anyone who is well enough, can return to school. If the test is positive, contact the school and continue to self-isolate, following NHS/gov.uk guidance.
    4. If your child is well enough to attend school (eating, sleeping, fully attentive, not relying on Calpol), but is displaying symptoms that relate to other conditions/illness (asthma, cold, hay fever, allergy), they are okay to attend school.
    5. If you have any concerns about your child’s symptoms, please contact NHS 111 and seek further advice – it is always best to be cautious.

If we feel your child is unwell whilst in our care, and that their symptoms suggest COVID-19, we will contact you and ask you to take them for a test.

Should you have questions or concerns at any point, please feel free to contact school. Although we are not medical professionals, we are always happy to help.

    Kind regards

    Mrs S M Penney

    Headteacher

In addition, we have added a poster to the 'parents' section of the website and to our school Facebook page to help.

  • End of Term Information

    Thu 09 Jul 2020

    End of Term Information

School officially closes for the end of term next Thursday, 16th July. The child care provision will also close on this day.

    Summer Holiday/Transition Packs

Teachers have prepared a summer pack for each child in Reception - Year 5 which contains some activities such as puzzles and colouring which they may enjoy doing over the break. It also contains a message and an activity/challenge from their new teacher.

These packs can be collected from school from Monday 13th – Thursday 16th July between 8.30am and 3.00pm. Please come to the office and a member of staff will help.

    Belongings Left in School

We also have some of the children’s belongings such as PE kits and lunch boxes which can be collected at this time. If the item is named, it will be waiting with your pack. In addition, we have a small amount of belonging from each class which doesn’t have a name. This will be available outside (weather permitting!) for you to look through.

    Collections

At the same time, we will be holding a ‘book amnesty’. If you have any school books at home - reading books or library books, please return these to the box in the entrance.

We will also be collecting for Morecambe Bay Foodbank who have an enormous task on their hands supporting local families during this difficult time. Please add any non-perishable food items you are able to spare to our collection when you call into school. Their ‘urgently needed’ list currently consists of: fruit juice, long life milk, sugar, instant mash, sponge puddings, wrapped biscuits, coffee, pasta sauce, soap and shower gel, loo roll, toothbrushes and toothpaste, feminine hygiene items and baby milk.

    Class Web Pages

Tomorrow, Thursday 10th July, the current class pages on the school’s website will be archived and new pages will be created for the classes the children will join in September. Current pages will still be accessible using the links at the very bottom of the ‘Class Pages’ page. Previous home learning activities will still be accessible via here, but as from tomorrow, the teachers will not be adding any new home learning tasks.

On Monday, there will be a welcome message and video from your child’s new teacher, introducing themselves and talking a little bit about next year.

Teachers will be contactable via their year group emails until the end of term, but with the exception of the email for new starters in reception, these will be closed down over the summer holidays.

    Reverse Parents’ Evening

Look out for an email from your child’s new teacher towards the beginning of the new term. This will ask you to provide any information that may be useful to the teacher and to help them get to know your child.

    Back to School

We look forward to welcoming the children back to school on Monday 7th September.

  • Acts of Kindness

    Wed 22 Apr 2020

    Acts of Kindness

One of the suggestions from the teachers at the start of the school closure was to try and think about acts of kindness at what is a difficult time for many people.

This one was sent in by the proud mum of Ethan in 2D who created some lovely pictures which he then gave to elderly and poorly neighbours. I am sure these pictures cheered them up no end. What a lovely thing to do.

We would love to hear from any other random acts of kindness.

Well done to Grace in 3T who took her poorly neighbour’s dog for a walk!

Chloe in 2P made a lovely get well soon card to send to Boris Johnson!
