Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
Following our recent 'Enterprise Week', each year group had a tricky decision to make...how would they spend their profits?! In total, the children made over £1000 in profit, which was split with the PTFA, leaving over £500 for the children to spend!!
Each year group had discussions and a vote. Our children's generosity never ceases to amaze us, as every single year group decided to donate to their money to a charity.
Reception's money was donated to Derian House Children's Hospice, Year 1 children donated to Children in Need, Year 2 donated to Save the Children, Year 4 made a huge shopping list and went to Adsa to buy food for Morecambe Bay Foodbank, Year 5 donated to St. John's Hospice and Year 6 donated to Cancer Care.
See below for further details of Year 4's epic shopping trip!!!
It was great to see all the children in their pyjamas today to celebrate and support Children in Need. Thank you so much for all your donations - we raised a whopping £483.05!
We also had a lot of children who took part in the 'Bring your Bear to School' activity and many contenders for the title of 'Best Children in Need Themed Bear'!
We had big bears, small bears, bears dressed as superheros, bears in pyjamas, bears on skateboards, a bear listening to an iPod, bears in nappies, glasses, headbands, bears wearing bandages, on crutches, with their legs in plaster, a bear with a moustache and even a bear in a bath of baked beans!!! Thank you to everyone who took part and went to such great effort with their bear!
On Monday, we had a special harvest assembly, along with a collection. We were delighted to see how many families brought in donations of tins and packets of food! We got in touch with the Morecambe Bay Foodbank, who were thrilled to hear from us!
They sent volunteers to school to collect all the donations and some Year 6 children helped to load all the food into the car.
The Foodbank sent us an email to thank everyone for their generosity:
To everybody at Torrisholme Primary School.
We would like to say a huge thank you for all donations collected this week.
We were delighted today when our volunteers came to collect the food, it was a good job they took a land rover as it filled it. Another team took over here at the foodbank and weighed the food which amounted to 221.9 kg.
In a special room another team then took over and made 8 food parcels to feed 8 families of two adults and two children. Each parcel contains enough food to last over 3 days. Your contribution provided over 300 meals and refreshments which will be distributed over the next few weeks.
You should be very proud of yourselves and we have welcomed your support.
Well done!
Come along to our Open Day on Friday 7th November.

If you have any suggestions for naming our pair of gorgeous guinea pigs, please pop them in the box in the school entrance!
At the end of last term, our Y6 leavers attached their wishes for the future to balloons and let them go on their very last day at Torrisholme.
We had a message from Mr Jones in Formby, to tell us that one of the balloons had sailed all the way across the bay and landed in his garden!
He sent his very best wishes to all our Y6 children, hoping that all their wishes come true!
