Harvest Foodbank Collection
To celebrate harvest, we had a visit from Debbie Green in assembly. Debbie has been coming to Torrisholme for harvest for eight years and she told us that she has never seen a bigger harvest table! Thank you so much for all your generous donations for Morecambe Bay Foodbank - it is very much appreciated. The collection is being picked up on Thursday, so there is still time to get any last minute donations in.
We will be collecting for the foodbank again in the run up to Christmas.

Year 5 Space Sleepover and Exhibition
Last night, a rather excitable bunch of Year 5 children came back to school in the hope of seeing the stars before sleeping over in the school hall. As usual, we were beaten by clouds and the only stars we saw were the children!
As well as preparing their space exhibition, the children enjoyed visits from Space Dr Arridge and star mad Mr Pitcher and his telescope!
After a few minutes of sleep(!!) and a bacon butty, the children set up their fabulous exhibition in the school hall, ready for visits from parents, grandparents and classes.
The exhibition was definitely the best yet, with many of the children (and parents?) putting in hours of extra time at home to create amazing resources, displays and interactive activities! Well done, Year 5! And thank you Mrs Taylor and Mrs Baker!!
Open Day - Friday 6th October

These children will be taking home one of Mrs Penney's special certificates tonight and will be 'starring' on our special board this week!
Prize Pudding Winners
Last term, these two superstars won a competition to design a label for a range of Christmas puddings being produced to raise funds for St. John's Hospice. Today, they received a delivery of a pudding complete with their very own label and a lovely prize packed full of sweeties!
We are hoping to get an order form in the school office if you would like to order one of the puds in time for Christmas! In addition to the girls' triple ginger and luscious lemon puddings, sticky toffee and plum will be available, all in a range of sizes. Yum! Watch out for further details...
Mrs Penney's Challenge
Mrs Penney spotted this whilst on her holidays and challenges you to sort out the punctuation!
The poster from the Vintage Festival was emailed in by a parent and it took us a lot of looking to see the mistake! Can you spot it?
Summer Holiday Reading Challenge
Over the holidays, we set the challenge of families being 'caught reading' in unusual places! There will be prizes for the winning entries when we return to school. Keep reading!!
