    Art on the Street

     

    Year 5 & 6 are taking part in a special themed week this week. The classes have been mixed up and are taking part in a variety of sessions, including graffiti art, street dance, pavement style art and rap! All parents are welcome to come and see a performance/exhibition of our work on Friday 22nd May between 9am - 10.20am. We look forward to seeing you there!

  • Run 4 the World

    Run 4 the World

    On Saturday, over 50 members of our school community met on the promenade to take part in 'Run 4 the World', either walking or running 1km, 5km or 10km! We were very proud of all those taking part it was especially lovely to see so many parents and past pupils joining in as part of Team Torrisholme! We were delighted to win the shield for the primary school with the most participants. Well done everyone! smiley

    Hearing Impaired Fun Day

    We hosted a fabulous day of fun for children from a number of local schools, with a dragon theme.

    The children created swords and shields, dragon head dresses, battled one another on the field and whipped up some yummy biscuits to take away!

  • Y6 Shakespeare Festival

    Y6 Shakespeare Festival

    Today, Y6 were joined by a fabulous turnout of parents and grandparents, who came to join their 'Shakespeare Festival'.

    Y6 have been working on a topic called 'Treading the Boards', which has involved work on Shakespeare's 'A Midsummer Night's Dream'. Today's festival included a modern adaptation of the play, which the children had written, performed with a shadow puppet show. Parents were also treated to performances of soliloquies,  a lesson in Elizabethan dancing and grilled with a Shakespeare quiz!

  • Run 4 the World

    Run 4 the World

    R4TW is a fun, family event which is taking place on Morecambe promenade on Saturday 16th May. It includes a 1km, 5km and 10km event, all of which can be walked, jogged, run or even pushed (if you're in a pushchair!).

    The event supports a number of charities, including those in our community and around the world. A registration fee and optional sponsorship are used to raise funds and everyone who signs up gets their own t-shirt.

    There is a primary school prize, which will be awarded to the school with the most participants and everyone (children, staff and parents) all count towards our total.

    Get involved and join our team on the prom on Saturday 16th May!

  • Snack Bar Update

    Key Stage 2 Snack Bar

    This week, our snack bar has proved very popular! The children have enjoyed snacks such as cheese and crackers, rice cakes, oranges, pineapple, apples, bananas, yoghurts and raisins. In total, Mrs Winder and her team of assistants have served over 700 snacks this week! Wow!

    If you would like a snack, you can either bring £1, to buy a 'snack pass' for the week, or 20p a day. We look forward to feeding you soon!!

    Snack Bar Poster Competition Winners

    Mrs Winder was delighted to receive over 50 entries for her poster competition, which was looking for a name for our new healthy snack bar and a poster to encourage children to choose healthy snacks. It was so difficult to choose, we decided on 6 winners, who will all receive a free snack every day next week! Congratulations to Holly in 5G, who named out new snack bar 'Torrisholme Tuckers'!   • Healthy Snack Bar Opens!

    Mrs Winder and her Year 6 assistants have opened a Healthy Snack Bar at break time. Children in Key Stage 2 can buy a snack for 20p. So far it's very popular!!

     

     

  • Foodbank Friday!

    Foodbank Friday

    Thank you for all the donations sent into school today for the Foodbank. In total, our donations weighed in at 90.9kg. Our next Foodbank Friday is on Friday 8th May.
