Non-Uniform Day
A big thank you to all those children who donated money on our non-uniform day. We raised over £450, which the school council will be passing on to Save the Children, in aid of Syrian refugees.
Art Week Day 2!
It has been another exciting day filled with creativity! Children in Reception have been busy colour mixing, there have been some beautiful autumn collages and sunflowers inspired by Van Gogh in Year 1 and Year 2 have built amazing paper sculptures! Year 5 have been working on technical drawing skills, whilst Year 6 have been working in clay, inspired by Antony Gormley.
Don't forget you can come along to our exhibition of the children's work from Tuesday 3rd November - Friday 6th November, between 3.00 - 3.30pm each afternoon.
Art Week Day 1!
We launched our art week with a fantastic flurry of creativity all around the school today! Children in Reception practised their colour mixing skills, whilst others created splat pictures inspired by the work of Jackson Pollock.
In Years 1 and 2, the children were mixed up across the classes, so that some were working on collages with Miss Metcalfe, painting inspired by Van Gogh with Mrs Dowker, printing with Miss Lumley or paper sculpture with Mrs Dunn!
Children in Year 3 were working on pointillism, inspired by Seurat and using oil pastels to create 'The Very Hungry Caterpillar' illustrations.
In Year 4, canvases were created inspired by Mondrian and pastel work was inspired by Paul Klee.
In Year 5 and 6, the children are mixed, so that they take part in taster sessions inspired by the 'masters' Picasso, Lowry, Van Gogh and Klimt.
We look forward to seeing you all at our exhibition, which will be on show every afternoon from Tuesday 3rd - Friday 6th November between 3.00 - 3.30pm.
Year 3's Afternoon Tea
Year 3 invited their families for an afternoon tea treat! And what a feast it was!! Our guests enjoyed sandwiches, scones, cupcakes and fruit punch, all prepared lovingly by Year 3 themselves. Well done to our Y3 Master Chefs!!
Year 5 Space Sleepover!
To complete their topic on 'Space - The Final Frontier', Year 5 had a sleepover at school so that they could watch the stars and prepare for their epic space exhibition. A cloudy night meant we didn't see any stars, but there was ice-cream, brilliant team work when preparing their exhibition, an ET movie screening and sausage butties for breakfast! What a fantastic night!
Year 2 Pet Day!
As part of their topic on pets, Year 2 invited their families to bring in their pets so that they could learn all about them. We had quite a variety! Thank you to all the parents and carers who brought their pets along!
