    First Foodbank Collection

Only a week after we launched our Christmas collection for the foodbank, we were delighted to discover that the boxes in many classrooms were overflowing with food and treats brought in by the children. The volunteers from the foodbank called by to pick it up and were stunned to find that they would need two trips to fit everything in their car!

The food weighed in at just over 177kg!

we will continue to collect until the end of term, with the volunteers making another collection on Friday 9th December. Thank you for all your contributions - what kind and thoughtful families we have.

Foodbank 'Christmas in a Box' Appeal

This Christmas, we are supporting Morecambe Bay Foodbank's appeal to compile boxes of food for families in the local area over the Christmas period.

We had a visit from Mr Gittins, who volunteers at the Foodbank, who explained to us all how the Foodbank works.

Each class has their own box and school councillors are in charge of their class collection. All donations are greatly appreciated.

    Children in Need

We had a fantastic pyjama day to raise money for Children in Need. Lots of children brought their bear to school to help Pudsey out and we raised a grand total of £365! Thank you for all your donations.

    Lancashire Dance Festival

We had a fantastic evening at the Lancashire Dance Festival, at Preston's Guild Hall.

A group of children from Years 4,5 and 6 have been rehearsing for their performance since the summer term, led by our 'Dancing Queen', Mrs Marriott.

The festival's theme was 'Once Upon a Time...' and Mrs Marriott worked with the children to choreograph a fabulous routine which included many characters from traditional tales, including  red riding hood, wolves and the three little pigs! Both Mrs Marriott and the children put endless hours of work into the dance and the final performance was stunning!

The children had a very enjoyable day, rehearsing along with the many other schools taking part and were thrilled to have such great support from family members who made the trip to be in the audience. When do we apply for next year...?

Visitors from the Dwarf Sports Association

On Monday morning, Key Stage 2 welcomed visitors Tom and Sean, who work for the Dwarf Sports Association. They talked to the children about how life was growing up and all the different sports they became involved with through the charity. They delivered an important message, which was that whatever your difference or whatever you find difficult, if you work hard and try your best, you can always get a positive outcome.

They also recognised the fantastic sporting achievements of Amara, in Year 5, who amongst her many medals for various sporting events, won the 'Sportswoman of the Year' at last year's Dwarf Sports Awards.
