Year 1 Cress Head Adventures!
Children in Year 1 created their very own 'cress heads' at the end of the half term and have taken them away over the holidays to see how they get on.
This first cress head has survived the journey all the way to the Isle of Mull or 'Ballamory', even sprouting some hair en route!
Please send any more photos in to Mrs Price at deputyhead@torrisholme.lancs.sch.uk and I'll get them loaded up.
Together Torrisholme is Crushing Cancer
Inspired by members of our school community and their families, we have decided that next half term we will be waging our very own war on cancer, by holding a series of fund-raising events and opportunities to raise as much money as we possibly can to help fight this terrible disease. We are keen to involve everyone who is part of the Torrisholme family, so that we can all work together to do our bit, no matter how big or small the part we play is.
We will be keeping track of our running total using a giant totaliser in the entrance hall and the money we make will be shared between our three chosen charities: Cancer Research, Breast Cancer Care and St John’s Hospice. We hope we can count on your support in the knowledge that everyone knows someone who has been affected by cancer.
Family Challenge
As well as getting involved in all the events taking place at school, we would love families to get involved with our fundraising. Whether it is thinking up your own sponsored event, hosting a coffee morning, or even sitting in bath of beans to add something to our total, we can’t wait to hear about it! You can email in details and photos of your efforts to Mrs Price at deputyhead@torrisholme.lancs.sch.uk so that we can share them in assembly and on our website. There will be a special family prize up for grabs for the most innovative fund raising.
Bag 2 School
A big thank you to everyone who brought back their 'Bag 2 School'. In total, our bags raised £184 for the PTFA!
Run 4 the World
On Saturday morning, children, parents, teachers and governors all met on the promenade to join 'Team Torrisholme' in this year's Run 4 the World event.
The sun was shining, providing perfect conditions for a run! A great day was had by all and we were delighted to once again be awarded the shield for being the primary school with the most participants! A big thank you to all those who came along.
