     School Closure Wednesday 9.12.15

Following power being re-connected by emergency generators, we were hoping that we would be able to open school tomorrow. However, with the power supply still being unstable, and under advice from power suppliers, the decision has been taken to close the school. Hopefully power will soon be supplied at full capacity and school will be open on Thursday.

Please pass on the message wherever possible.

    Internet Safety

A big thank you to PS Ian Lawrence and PCSO Dennis Nelson, who came in to school yesterday to run two internet safety presentations to parents of children in Y5 and Y6. The presentation was aimed at reducing the risk of young people being victims of exploitation and cyberbullying. The talk included parental controls, Snapchat, Facebook, Instagram, texting and online gaming. A really useful website providing parents and carers with information on keeping young people safe when they are accessing the elctronic world can be found by visiting www.thinkuknow.co.uk/

A Visit from The Bay's Danny Matthews

Today we received a visit from DJ Danny Matthews, who came along to see our school after we were nominated as their 'Cool School'!

Danny enjoyed a school dinner of hot pot and then set off around school in search of the answer to his question..."What makes Torrisholme cool...?"

Many children were interviewed and some even gave a rendition of their favourite Christmas carol!

Listen out for us on the breakfast show at some point over the next few weeks!

    Enterprise Week!

This week everyone is busy designing, creating and marketing their own products, which the children will sell at Friday's Christmas Fair.

After being set the challenge by Mrs Penney of who could make the most profit in a week, each year group have been busy working as a team to create fabulous products for your perusal!

We have everything from magic reindeer dust made by the children in Reception, to Year 1's reindeer sweetie cups, Year 2's Olaf toys, Year 3's elf treats, shopping bags and wrapping paper, Year 4's Christmassy dough, Year 5's tasty fudge and Year 6's Christmas stockings!

Check out the class pages for more information!
